The promotion expires on, so I can understand the urgency on getting this sorted out. But that also depends how HP defines 'data' and whether they mean customer data or all data (every 1 and 0 on the drive). Prior to sending the trade in, it is the customer’s responsibility to delete all data from the hard drive and any other storage media in the product This right here could mean that you can send the laptop in without anything at all on the hard drive, which includes no OS. You know what they say about assumptions though.
